Central Boys Win Class 4 District 2 Championship

(PARK HILLS) The Central Rebels boys basketball team won the Class 4 District 2 championship over Potosi, 57-42 Saturday afternoon. The two teams met twice earlier in the season, and the Trojans came away victorious in both outings. This time around, the outside shooting of Jobe Bryant helped Central get a lead near the end of the first quarter.
Central would lead by 9 at the half, but Carter Whitley knocked down a big shot to make it a one-possession game in the third.
Whitley finished with 15 points for Potosi. Jobe Bryant and Braydon Berry each had 16 for the Rebels.
The defenses played well for both sides in the game, as they were able to slow the pace. The lower tempo might have contributed to the outcome, but Rebels head coach Brad Gross says a few players stepped up when it mattered most for his team.
Central’s win earns them home-court in the sectional round game Tuesday night. We’ll bring you that game on J-98.
