Central Defeats Cape Notre Dame, Advances to State Quarterfinals

The Central Lady Rebels faced off last night against the Cape Notre Dame Lady Bulldogs for the right to go to the state quarterfinals for Class 4. Regional Radio provided coverage of the game. Both teams utilized good perimeter passing in the first half, but it was Central jumping out to the early lead.

After a 15-4 start to the game for Central, they would score only 6 points in the second. Despite the lack of scoring, they led Cape Notre Dame 21-16 at the half. The second half began with Central committing turnovers and Cape Notre Dame taking advantage.

Cape Notre Dame would cut the lead to as little as 2 in the third. But Central with their backs to the wall would have an answer in the fourth quarter.

The Lady Rebels would hit a few free throws late to ice the game and win on their home court, defeating the Cape Notre Dame Lady Bulldogs by a score of 44 to 39. Khloe Dischbein was interviews postgame about the physicality that Central displayed for all 32 minutes.

Khloe Dischbein finished with 20 of the team’s 44 points and was named Applebee’s of Farmington Player of the Game. Allysa and Taylor O’Connor both finished with 9 points, and Sydney Miles finished with 6. For Cape Notre Dame, Kate Rubel finished with 14, Nevaeh Lucious had 10, and Eliza Burnette ended with 4 points. Coach Aaron Tyree was asked about his team’s physicality throughout the game.

The Central Lady Rebels will now head to Ursline Academy on Friday, with the winner of that matchup heading to Columbia as part of the Show Me Showdown next week.
