Central; Potosi to Play for MAAA Boys Tournament Championship
(PARK HILLS) The MAAA Basketball Tournament Boys Semifinals took place last night at Mineral Area College.  The first of two games saw the one seed Central Rebels face off against the four seed Kingston Cougars.  Central found their offense early and often thanks to Jobe Bryant.

The Rebels carried their momentum to a 74-50 win. Bryant finished with 24 points, which led Central in scoring.  Brayden Berry finished with 21, and Caden Casey finished with 13.  The top scorer for Kingston was Cody Yates, who finished with 29 of the team’s 50 points. Central Head Coach Brad Gross was asked what the differences were in their semifinal matchup.

The second game of the evening was a long-awaited rematch between 2-Farmington and 3-Potosi. The game remained close for the entire first half, but a big shot from Potosi’s E.J. Sancegraw put the Trojans up for good.

That basket was part of an 11-0 Potosi run. The Trojans would go on to win 69-58 over the Knights thanks to 25 points by Carter Whitley. Farmington’s Logan Schaupert led all scorers with 29 points. Trojans head coach Jackson Conoway explains the differences between Friday night’s game and the prior meeting in January.

The Trojans will face top-seed Central for the MAAA Tournament championship this Saturday evening. Farmington will face Kingston for third place.
