(FESTUS) Jefferson R-7 softball’s Abi Chipps tied and broke the career singles record for the state of Missouri last week and was picked as the Parkland Health Mart Pharmacy Athlete of the Week because of it. Abi tied the record in a win over Valley Park and broke the tie with a bunt base hit in a win over Saxony Lutheran in the 1st round of districts.

Abi talks about her approach to that record-setting hit.

After reaching base, a little celebration ensued.

Abi added a few more singles to her total and has finished her career with 188. She also has the highest average all-time in Missouri for singles per game at 1.918. For winning Athlete of the Week, the Parkland Health Mart Pharmacy will donate 25-dollars to a local charity of Abi’s choice.

Abi Chipps received a Parkland Health Mart Pharmacy Play It Forward t-shirt as well as a certificate. Chipps will be attending Indiana State next year for softball.
