(Hillsboro) Residents in the City of Hillsboro will see Proposition B on the April election ballot. If approved, Proposition B would impose a license fee of 50 dollars for home-based businesses, $100 for contractors, and 50 cents per $1000 of gross receipts with a minimum of a $100 fee for any other person engaged in a business. Hillsboro Mayor Buddy Russell says Hillsboro has never had something like this in place, while numerous other cities do.

Mayor Russell is running unopposed for reelection in April. There is only one contested alderperson race on the ballot in Hillsboro, and that is in Ward 4 as incumbent Joyce Twiggs will be opposed by former mayor Dennis Bradley.
