Crystal City man injured and arrested after crash on I-55 in South St. Louis County

A Crystal City man was injured in a single-vehicle accident on southbound I-55 north of Meramec Bottom Road Saturday morning. According to the Missouri State Highway Patrol, 39-year-old Travis Perkins was driving a Ford F-150 pick-up and traveled off the right side of the roadway and struck a sign, the guard rail twice, and the retaining wall before overturning. He was taken by ambulance to Mercy Hospital South with moderate injuries. The accident took place around 7 o’clock Saturday morning. He was later charged with Driving While Intoxicated for Drugs, Possession of a Controlled Substance which was 25 grams of methamphetamine, and Possession of Drug Paraphernalia.
