DeSoto City Fire Chief position remains vacant

(DeSoto) The City of DeSoto continues to operate without a fire chief. Previous Chief James Maupin resigned abruptly in March, and the city has yet to fill the position. DeSoto City Manager Todd Melkus says they have received resumes and have held interviews.

In the meantime, current Captain Mike Zebas has been serving as the interim chief. Melkus says they are still in good hands until a decision is made.

In other fire department news across the area, Herculaneum Fire Chief Kevin Baker resigned and his final day will be Friday. Baker took a position with Sentinel Emergency Solutions which is a firefighting equipment supplier.
