(DESOTO) The DeSoto boys basketball team is tipping off their 2018-19 season Friday night at Northwest. Last year’s Dragons went 14-13 with a district-opening round loss to Festus. DeSoto graduated six players with Austin West headlining the group. Head Coach Zeb Hammond will have to replace West’s 19.6 points per game plus his hustle and heart.

He says returning senior Clayton Snudden is the frontrunner to do all of that.

Additional guys that will be senior contributors are Andrew Downs and Ethan Koch.

Coach Hammond got a chance to see his guys in action during this week’s jamboree against Festus and Fox and came away impressed with the defense.

DeSoto boys basketball opens the season Friday night against Northwest. The Lions return Seth Fortner, Conor Luca, Thomas Patient, and Dylan Werner from a 1-24, 2017 season. Tip-off is set for 7 p.m.
