Ellington Lady Whippets Basketball Begins Quest for Class 2 State Title

(Springfield) The Ellington Whippets girls basketball program kicks off their quest for their first ever state title today as they take on the Blue Eye Lady Bulldogs in the Class 2 Semifinals on J-98. The Lady Bulldogs are (24-5) on the season with 15 of those wins coming against opponents with an above .500 record. Blue Eye head coach Ken Elfrink says he hopes their tough schedule will help them succeed against the talented Whippets.

Ellington is fresh off a 59-51 win over Oran who made the semifinals a year ago and was holding teams to 34 points a contest this season. Whippets head coach David Burrows gives his thoughts on what to expect from the Bulldogs.

The Ellington Whippets (21-5) play the Blue Eye Bulldogs (24-5) in the Class 2 Semifinals tonight at 5 with pregame coverage starting at 4:45 on J-98 The Boot.
