Farmington R-7 Schools Delay First Day of School

(Farmington, Mo.) The Farmington R-7 Schools will not start on time for the 2020-2021 school year. Superintendent Matt Ruble released a statement on the school district’s website today stating, “…due to the most recent information and recommendations from the St. Francois County health officials and an increase in the number of positive COVID-19 cases, the FSD Board of Education and administration team has made a decision to delay the start of our school year for all students until September 8, 2020.” The original start date for Farmington schools was supposed to be Tuesday, August 25th. With the delay of the first day of school that also means the Farmington schools open house will also be pushed back to September 1st, 2nd and 3rd. Activities director for the district John Bacon has said that at this time all Farmington sports events on the athletic website fhsknights.org will be played as scheduled.
