Festus adjusts wards & places a “use tax” on April ballot

(Festus) The Festus City Council made some important decisions concerning the April election ballot after Monday night’s meeting. Due to the recent census numbers, Festus had to make a few changes to Ward boundaries. Festus City Administrator Greg Camp says the changes were minor.

Also, the Festus City Council voted in favor of placing a “use tax” on online internet sales. Camp says if passed the monies generated from the tax will be used for specific improvements.

Camp says the monies generated after the first two-million dollars will be used for other items.

Camp says many of these proposed improvements were mentioned in the city-wide survey results of what many of the residents would like to see in the future.
