Festus faces Farmington in boys’ hoops district semis on KREI & KJFF

(Farmington) A couple of hot, high-scoring teams tackle each other in the Class 5 District 2 boys’ basketball semifinals when the Festus Tigers face the Farmington Knights Tuesday on KREI and KJFF.

Both teams are riding win streaks coming into this showdown and are averaging better than 65 points per game.

Sophomore point guard Ahrmad Branch, along with senior Collin Reando and juniors Cole Rickermann and Collin Weinhaus, have helped Festus win six in a row and 11 of their last 12.

But that one loss came at the hands of Farmington, and Tigers head coach Jason Therrell says that night made it clear his team has to kick it up a notch this time around.

Farmington has rolled up five straight wins and 10 of 14 games in 2021 behind seniors Brant Gray and Jacob Jarvis, as well as juniors Bracey Blanton and Isaiah Robinson.

But, while they cruised to a 82-54 victory against Festus in one of those wins, Knights head coach Terry Noble knows it won’t be as easy this time to tame the Tigers.

Farmington has beaten Festus in back-to-back meetings and in nine of the last 10.

This time, the Knights and Tigers tango for a spot in the Class 5 District 2 championship game against either North County or DeSoto.

Coverage starts at 5:45 Tuesday evening on AM 800 KREI and AM 1400 KJFF.
