Festus hotels are busy

(Festus) Lodging in the Festus area has picked back up in recent months. Those that book and stay in the Festus hotels pay a tourism tax which funds several special events held throughout the year. Barb Lowry is the Director of Tourism and Recreation for the City of Festus. She says two of the hotel outlets have told her, the number of people staying in Festus is off the charts.

The Festus Tourism Commission recently met to look over the funding requests from area businesses and organizations for upcoming events. The total number of funds requested totaled $330,260. The Tourism Commission will meet again in the coming months to approve and/or deny those requests.
