Festus Man Injured in Two-Vehicle Accident in St. Francois County

(BONNE TERRE) A Festus man was seriously injured following a two-vehicle accident on Tuesday afternoon. According to the Missouri State Highway Patrol, 62-year old Michael Atkins of Festus was traveling southbound on Hwy 67, near Cash Lane in a Toyota Tacoma when the front of his vehicle struck the trailer of a Freightliner truck that is owned by the Missouri State Highway Patrol, and was being driven by 35-year old Harvey Sullins of Middle Brook. The truck was “a working MODOT vehicle with active caution lighting and signals.” Atkins was not wearing his seatbelt and was taken to Mercy Hospital South. Sullins was not injured in the accident.
