(Festus) Plans are moving forward to renovate all of the parking areas along 2nd Street in Festus, most likely happening next year. Festus Public Works Director Matt Unrine recently met with the Historic Tanglefoot Association to discuss those plans and what they will look like.
Festus City Administrator Greg Camp along with Unrine says there will be additional parking spaces on 2nd Street after the configuration, however, the plans to renovate East Main Street will be taking away a lot of those parking spots.
Unrine says the 2nd Street parking lot changes will also allow for better walkways leading back to East Main Street.
The City of Festus has already earmarked a chunk of funding in next year’s budget to begin the 2nd Street parking lot renovation work. The work could start in the spring of 2024.
