(FESTUS) In a delayed match-up of ground-and-pound style football teams, the Fox Warriors prevailed 17-14 over the Festus Tigers on Saturday on AM 1400 KJFF. The game was scheduled to play Friday night at 7, but because of heavy rains and lightning, the Warriors and Tigers had to play Saturday morning at 9.

Despite both teams known for their strict rushing attacks, it was actually a pass that led to the game-winning field goal with 16 seconds to go in the game.

After a 3-yard run up the middle and a spike of the football by Fox quarterback Brock Inman, it was Brock that stepped up in the big moment.

Fox got its first touchdown on the opening drive of the game behind a run from Chase Maxey and then scored its 2nd TD in the 4th quarter as junior running back Juhaud Thompson ran it in from 11-yards out.

Festus got both of its rushing touchdowns in the 2nd quarter from quarterback Collin Doyel and running back Jaden Rystrom.

Brock Inman was chosen as the Applebee’s of Farmington Player of the Game and describes the kick to win it.

Fox improves to 1-0 with the win and will play next week at home against Lindbergh on Friday. Festus falls to 0-1 and will travel to Sullivan for a Friday night affair with the Eagles.
