(DESOTO) Fox softball picked up the 7-0 road shutout of the DeSoto Dragons Wednesday afternoon in the first-ever meeting between the two schools. Fox freshman shortstop Lena McMichael provided the early damage with a double in the 2nd inning.

Fox added a run in the 3rd, 6th, and three more in the 7th, including this base knock by Lauren Duff.

Duff started the game in the circle and finished the game in the circle, picking up her first win of the season while tossing 7 innings, giving up just three hits and striking out three. Warriors head coach Chris Starkey complimented the defense behind Duff.

DeSoto’s three hits came from Evelyn Boyer, Bella Oelzen, and Krystin Keath. Head coach Chris Woelich thought Duff just did a good job all around to stump his offense.

The loss drops DeSoto to 7-4 this season with a game Thursday against Cape Notre Dame. Fox improves to 3-5 and will get a little break, beginning next Monday with a doubleheader against Holt and Webster Groves.
