(Sikeston) The Sikeston J.C. Bootheel Rodeo had it’s humble beginnings back in September of 1953.

That first-ever rodeo was held at V.F.W. Memorial Park which was the home of the Sikeston Stags, a semi-pro baseball team.

Now almost 70 years later, the Jaycees have a state of the art rodeo arena that attracts some of the best riders and ropers in the country.

Besides four nights of rodeo, they also feature top-notch musical entertainment all four evenings.

Clay Driskill is the advertising chair on the Sikeston Jaycee Rodeo Committee.

He runs down this year’s musical guests for the nights of August 11th through the 14th.

Driskill says fans who attend the Sikeston rodeo don’t mind when organizers stray from the tride and true rodeo/country music artist formula.

In fact, he says they seem to love it and he hopes Flo Rida will “bring it” on the final night of the rodeo.
