Grandview’s Wakeland named Applebee’s of Farmington Athlete of the Week

(Dittmer) Grandview Eagles junior Anna Belle Wakeland is the Applebee’s of Farmington Athlete of the Week.

The 6-foot-tall forward was perhaps the biggest reason that the Eagles came away with consolation at the Black & Red Classic last week in Herculaneum.

Wakeland averaged better than 17 points, 15 rebounds and 4 blocked shots in the 3 games.

That included a monster game with 26 points and 25 rebounds in the fifth-place-game victory over Pacific on Friday.

Eagles head coach Tim Winkler says Wakeland is starting to show that superstar potential.

Wakeland is averaging just under 15 points, 14 points and 4 blocks per game to start the season.

She has helped Grandview win three of their last 4 games since losing the season opener.

As Athlete of the Week, she receives a T-shirt, a certificate and a coupon for a free entree at Applebee’s in Farmington.

To hear a full interview with Anna Belle Wakeland, tune in to KJFF Sports Talk Wednesday afternoon at 4:15 on AM 1400.
