Groundbreaking Today For New Mississippi River Bridge

(Perryville) A joint groundbreaking ceremony will be held today at 11 o’clock for the Don Welge Memorial Bridge that will connect Perry County, Missouri and Randolph County, Illinois.

The ceremony will be held on the Missouri side of the river.

Along with officials with both the Missouri and Illinois Departments of Transportation, other state officials will be in attendance along with Tom Welge, the CEO of Gilster-Mary Lee.

The bridge is expected to be completed by the end of 2026 and could cost up to 284 million dollars.
