Herculaneum Beats Crystal City in Final Seconds, 6-0
(HERCULANEUM)    It appears the Herculaneum Black Cats will host the Kennett in the opening game of the district playoffs beginning on October 27th.  The Black Cats beat Crystal City 6-0 at home on Senior Night.  Both defenses played strong games with neither side giving up a long pass or a long run. The teams battled to the final seconds of the game when Sophomore quarterback Keaton Reeves threw a 15 yard touchdown pass to sophomore Clark Struckhoff with only 1.6 seconds left to win the game. It turned out to be the “Festus Steak and Shake “Shake ‘Em Up Play of the Game.”

The Black Cats went for a two point conversion and the run failed.  The Cats were penalized prior to the kickoff for their celebration in the endzone but Crystal City was unable to make a return on the kickoff and that was the way the game ended.
Herculaneum Coach Blaine Boss said the pass was perhaps the best ball Reeves has thrown all season.

According to Boss, he just wanted Clark Struckhoff to make a play.

The football field at Herculaneum High School is scheduled to get an artificial surface installed prior to next season.  With that in mind, Boss is hoping the team can play another game on the natural grass at J.W. Dugan Memorial Athletic Field.

Herculaneum improves their record to (4-5) and Crystal City slips to (6-3).   In Class 1, District 2, Crystal City will host (3-6) Harrisburg on November 3rd.
