Herculaneum stares down Steelville, Jefferson meets St. Pius again in Class 3 District 3 boys’ semis

The 2 spots in the Class 3 District 3 boys’ basketball championship will be reserved Wednesday in Herculaneum in the semifinals on the MyMoInfo SportStream.

The first game will see the host Herculaneum Blackcats battle the top-seeded Steelville Cardinals.

Herculaneum won its third straight game by beating Bourbon in the first round 62-46 to improve to 11-14.

Blackcats head coach Jason Jarvis is hoping for a raucous environment on the Herky home floor against a stout opponent.

Steelville has won 15 straight and is 23-2 after they thrashed Grandview 61-25 in the first round.
The second semifinal is a rematch of last year’s District 3 championship game, as the Jefferson Bluejays battle the St. Pius Lancers.

Jefferson won its fifth game in 6 tries by beating Kingston 56-24 in the opening round, but Bluejays head coach Sean Breeze believes his team needs an even better effort against their JCAA rivals.

St. Pius improved to 19-7 with their first-round win over Cuba, 65-41.
The Lancers lost that District 3 title game a year ago to Jefferson.

Head coach Chris Miller says the chance at redemption is definitely on his players’ minds.

St. Pius beat Jefferson 59-53 when they met on February 14th.
Their meeting follows Steelville & Herculaneum, which you can hear with coverage starting with the Flieg’s Equipment Pregame Show at 5:45 Wednesday evening on the MyMoInfo SportStream.
