Heroin Antidote Narcan Approved for Over the Counter Sales

(FESTUS) Consumers will now be able to buy naloxone over the counter without a prescription online and in retail stores. Starting this week, customers can walk into pharmacies and find naloxone on the shelves under the brand name Narcan.
Beth Kreminski is the Director of Substance Use Recovery at Compass Health Network in Festus, she says making Narcan available over the counter will be helpful to individuals and families.
Kreminski explains how Narcan works.
According to Kreminski, Narcan is a nasal spray.
Narcan has a suggested retail price of $44.99 for a two-dose carton.
