Hillsboro Beats Festus in Triple Overtime 105-102

(HILLSBORO)    In a game heard Friday night on AM 1400 KJFF and mymoinfo dot com, the Hillsboro Hawks watched a 17 point lead evaporate midway in the fourth quarter but were able to outlast the Festus Tigers 105-102 in triple overtime. Noah Holland of the Hawks tied a single game school scoring record of 50 points as the record holder Mark Steighorst watched from the stands. Steighorst set the record when he played for his father Gene in 1971.

The game was sent into overtime on a three pointer by the Tigers’ Logan Cash.

Noah Holland was able to nail 5 three pointers, including this one that gave him 49 points in the game.

Hillsboro head coach Brian Sucharski says the triple O-T event was a game to remember.

Besides Holland scoring 50 points, the Hawks were helped out by Payton Brown who had 18. Festus was led by Ahrmad Branch who scored 48 before fouling out in the first overtime period and also by Logan Cash who pumped in 31.

With the win, Hillsboro moves to 15-6 on the year and Festus goes to 16-4.

KJFF’s Hal Neisler spoke after the game with Mark Steighorst whose 52 year old Hillsboro scoring record was tied Friday night by Hawk senior Noah Holland.
