(IMPERIAL) The crowning of a Jefferson County Large Schools Conference champion will have to wait till Monday as the Hillsboro Hawks beat Festus 5-2 in 10 innings on Friday on KJFF.

The game was played at Windsor High School and With a 3-0 record going into the game, the Festus Tigers needed to win in order to clinch. Hillsboro had other ideas as catcher Isack Hamilton provided the comeback swing in the 6th with the bases loaded and the Hawks down two.

 
The game eventually got to extra innings after Hillsboro’s Logan Warren struck out Festus shortstop Eddie Martin to end the 7th. The Hawks then jumped on an opportunity in the top of the 10th with runners at 2nd and 3rd and nobody out and Christian Hancock batting.

 
And they would score those two as Hamilton drove in Brewer and later Grant Beck drew a bases-loaded walk to score Hancock. Applebee’s of Farmington Player of the Game Isack Hamilton talks about the opportunity now for the Hawks to win the conference if they can beat Perryville.

 
Hillsboro will play the Pirates on Monday with the chance to clinch the conference crown for the 2nd time in 3 years. The Festus loss drops them to 5-14 overall and 3-1 in the conference. The Tigers will return home to face Cape Notre Dame on Monday at 4:30.
