(CAPE GIRARDEAU) The Hillsboro football Hawks have their season come to an end at the hands of the Cape Central Tigers, falling 48-8 in the Class 4 District 1 semifinals tonight on KJFF.
The Tigers opened the game with an 80-yard kickoff return for a touchdown by Donye Thomas. Hillsboro proceeded to give up 2 more touchdowns before quarterback Austin Perez and the Hawks went to the air for their only score of the game.

After the 2-point conversion run by Jaxin Patterson was successful, the Hawks were down 21-8. Before the half ended though, the Tigers struck for their 5th touchdown of the night.

The only touchdown of the 2nd half was a 30-yard pass completion between quarterback Cameron Cox and receiver Donye Thomas.
Hillsboro coach Lee Freeman praised his young group for the effort this season.

Hillsboro ends the season with a 4-7 record. Cape Central improves to 7-4 and will take on Farmington next Friday at the home of the Knights for the Class 4 District 1 championship. That game will be on AM 800 KREI.
