(HILLSBORO) The Hillsboro girls soccer team is ready for another run at a state championship after finishing 2018 with an 18-11 record and a loss to eventual champion Rockwood Summit in the Class 3 Quarterfinals.

The Hawks are bringing back 13 seniors, including leading goal-scorer and 1st team All-State midfielder Abby Schacht as well as All-Region defenseman Rachael Hamilton. With where Hillsboro wound up last year in that state quarterfinal game, head coach Chris Schacht knows his girls are chomping at the bit to get there again and then some.

One of the new pieces in place for the Hawks this season is Mackenzie Baker as the starting goalkeeper.

The Hawks will also have freshman Colleen Theiss step in and try to fill the shoes of last year’s 2nd-leading goal-scorer, Jillian Schlote, who graduated. The Hillsboro girls soccer season begins next Friday at home against the Festus Tigers.
