Hillsboro pitchers put on show in win over Jefferson

(Sauget, IL) The Hillsboro Hawks came through with just enough late offense to win a pitchers’ duel.

Hillsboro rounded out the regular season with a 4-1 victory over the Jefferson Blue Jays Wednesday on KJFF.

The game was tied at one all the way into the sixth inning, when an unlikely hero delivered the Gilster Mary Lee Drive of the Game for the Hawks.

With a lead in tow, junior pitcher Zach Reynolds did what he’s done all season long for Hillsboro and shut the door on the Blue Jays.

Reynolds combined with junior Kyle Turman and sophomore Gavin Hite to only give up 2 total hits and 2 walks.

The trio earned Applebee’s of Farmington Players of the Game as the Hawks win their fifth of the last 9 games.

While Hillsboro ends the regular season at 7-14, Jefferson falls to 8-14.
