Hillsboro’s Medley named boys’ track Dream Team Coach of the Year

(Hillsboro) Todd Medley of the Hillsboro Hawks in the 2021 Regional Radio Dream Team Boys’ Track & Field Coach of the Year.

Medley lead the Hillsboro boys to conference and district championships as a team, and they went on to finish 11th in the team standings at the Class 4 state championships.

Medley says it’s a great honor to have the coaches he’s competing with recognize the work of his team and his coaching staff.

Among the standout athletes for Hillsboro was senior Sam Wright, who was the Dream Team Boys’ Track Athlete of the Year after winning state titles in the 200-meter dash and the 300-meter hurdles.

Medley says Wright became a decorated sprinter because he started giving more attention to detail.

Hillsboro junior Cruz Valencia and seniors Tristan Jones and Zach McNees also qualified for state this season, joining the ranks of former Hawks like current Purdue star Isaiah Martin.

Medley says the program’s success is a credit to everyone involved for keeping their eyes on the prize.

Hillsboro had a total of 15 boys’ athletes who medaled at this year’s Class 4 District 2 championships.
