(Hillsboro) The Jefferson County Health Department is pleased with the decreasing numbers of Covid-19 cases in the county. Health Department Director Kelley Vollmar says the current mask order, as well as other factors, have been helping.

Vollmar says if the numbers continue to decline over the next few days, the county will drop to Orange status in the Covid-19 color guidance indicator.

The Health Department officially dropped Jefferson County into the Orange status Tuesday afternoon as the rolling 7-day average of cases per day per 100,000residents at 24.95, under the 25-case threshold for RED status.

The Health Department just finished its fourth Covid-19 vaccine clinic on Tuesday. During the four dates of clinics last week, there were 750 vaccinations administered. Vollmar is hopeful another vaccination clinic will take place next week with the possibility of involving the Missouri National Guard.
