Jefferson County Daily COVID-19 Cases Continue to Rise

(Jefferson County) Daily COVID-19 cases continue to rise in Jefferson County with the latest CDC week 28 update showing the county remaining in the orange status.

Health department spokeswoman Brianne Zwiener says guidance is indicating the color status could get worse in the coming weeks.

Zwiener also provides an update on the Delta variant in the county.

So far more than 30 percent of eligible residents have been fully vaccinated in Jefferson County. That’s almost 69,000 people.

As of Thursday, the Jefferson County Health Department reported 73 new cases of Covid-19 in the county.

The total number of positive cases stands at 24,801 since March of last year. The active cases sits at 469, and there have been 255 deaths since the start of the pandemic.
