(Hillsboro) Jefferson County Sheriff Dave Marshak says his office has seen an increase in calls concerning the homeless population in the county, which appears to be on the rise. Sheriff Marshak says it’s a sensitive issue in many ways.
Sheriff Marshak says he also has received calls regarding panhandling at major roadway intersections.
St. Louis County was recently hit with a fine of more than one-hundred thousand dollars for arresting individuals for panhandling. Sheriff Marshak wanted to bring light to the lack of resources to help with the area’s homeless population.
