Jefferson Girls and Boys Get Varsity Wins Over Herculaneum

(HERCULANEUM) In high school basketball Friday night, Jefferson High School girls and boys basketball teams both won at Herculaneum. The games were broadcast on KJFF and mymoinfo.com. The Lady Jays held a nine point lead over the Lady Cats in the second quarter only to see margin evaporate and eventually turn into a three point deficit. Jefferson was able to battle back and go into halftime with a 31-26 lead. The Lady Jays still led by five at the end of three and down the stretch both teams exchanged the lead before Jefferson came away with a 58-55 win. Grace Neels had 18 points and was our Applebee’s of Farmington Player of the Game. Jefferson’s Halayna Loyd had 17 points in the contest. Leading the way for the Lady Blackcats was Amia Moore who scored 16 points.
Lady Jays coach Stevie Holdinghausen says her team is maturing.

The Lady Jays are now (12-5) and Herculaneum slips to (5-9).

On the boys side, Jefferson’s Nate Breeze pumped in 29 points and Kaleb Weiler added 11 more as the Jays downed the Blackcats 68-44. Blackcats head coach Jason Jarvis said the Blackcats lost the physical game and the team was without Jacob Moreland who is out with an ankle injury he suffered in practice prior to this week’s game against Perryville.

Blue Jay Nate Breeze believes the Jays have work to do but he believes the team can make a good run when tournament time rolls around.

Jefferson Head Coach Sean Breeze says the Jays helped each other out in getting the win.

The Jays move to (12-5) on the season and the Blackcats record is (5-9).
