Jefferson Girls Beat West County 66-38

The Jefferson Lady Blue Jays improved their record to (5-1) Monday night as they beat the West County Lady Bulldogs 66-38. It was the first time in Jefferson High School history the Lady Jays were able to beat West County. Jefferson led the Bulldogs 29-27 at halftime but were able to pull away midway in the third quarter. The Lady Jays had several players in double figures with Halayna Loyd, Peyton Guffey, Grace Neels, Louise Dueppner and Megan Wood. Jefferson head coach Stevie Holdinghausen was glad to see several players get in the box score.

West County has a young team with six freshmen, one senior and three juniors. Two freshmen led the team in scoring, Dhatri McRaven nailed 5 three pointers to go with a basket for her 17 points while Maylee Merrill scored 14 points. West County head coach John Barnett said his team played tough but ran out of gas.

Up next for the Lady Jays, they go to Oak Ridge on Thursday. The Lady Bulldogs will host Herculaneum on Wednesday.
