(Festus, MO) The first week of the new school year is underway for students in the Jefferson R-7 School District.

Before the beginning of the school year, R-7 announced they would opt to a hybrid system in which one half of the student body would be on campus on Monday’s and Tuesday’s, while the other half would attend on Thursday’s and Friday’s with Wednesday’s being an all virtual day for students.

Superintendent Clint Johnston says the first half of the school week has been “phenomenal”.

According to Johnston, there is a small percentage of students that have chosen an all virtual learning option.

R-7 administrators are hopeful the hybrid schedule will be temporary as the school board plans to meet in the coming weeks to evaluate how the first couple of weeks having been moving along.
