Kingston’s Dream Season Comes to an End, Loses to New Madrid in State Quarterfinals

The Kingston Cougars and New Madrid County Eagles played in the State Quarterfinals held at the TJ Foulon Field House at Central High School. The winner of this game would head to Columbia as part of the Class 3 Show Me Showdown. The first half saw New Madrid’s athleticism on display.

New Madrid would lead Kingston 34-19 at the half. The second half would see Kingston valiantly attempt a comeback.

Despite Mason Nelson’s 14 points, Kingston would see their season come to an end, losing this matchup by a final score of 70 to 38. Coach Paul Hamilton reminisced on what he took away from this game.

Cody Yates for Kingston finished with 15 points, Mason Nelson finished with 14, and Brenden Luna had 3 off the bench. For New Madrid, Jadis Jones finished with a game high 23, BJ Williamson had 22, and Ra’Mond Brooks had 11, all in the second half. New Madrid County will face either Thayer or Greenwood High School next week in the Show Me Showdown.
