Despite a strong start, the Mineral Area College men’s basketball team couldn’t seal the deal and got knocked out 83-77 last (Saturday) night in a home game against Three Rivers College heard on AM-800 KREI. The Cardinals took the lead at the end of the first half and built on it with the Gilster Mary Lee Play of the Game:

MAC led by as much as 11 points in the second half before a former North County Raider heated up…

Sprenkel finished with 19 points amd 5 three-pointers as the Raiders siezed momentum down the stretch to improve to 3-5 in Region 16 play and 11-17 overall. The Cardinals did get a huge night from Steve Wooten with a game-high 34 points, but MAC head coach Luke Strege says his team just didn’t quite have the focus they needed to win:

The Cardinals fall to just 1-5 against Region 16 and 20-8 overall. Mineral Area College is next in action Wednesday night when it will entertain West Plains. You can hear the game with coverage starting at 6:45 on KREI.
