MAC Men Fall in Elite Eight
(Hutchinson) MAC’s bid for a final four fell just short as the Cardinal men lost for the first time this year, 105-101 to Cowley County at the national tournament in Hutchinson, Kansas. The game was played between the highest scoring team in the nation in the Tigers and the team that allowed the fewest points in the Cardinals. MAC shot 60% in the game and scored easily for 30 minutes.
The Cardinals led 70-45. However, MAC lost their point guard Terrion Murdix to an injury and the Tigers started on the comeback trail. Cowley surged ahead with a 58-27 push in the second half.
Coach Luke Strege says his team just couldn’t overcome all the second half adversity this time…
Coach will remember this team as a group of winners.
Kevin Stone led the Cardinals with 27 points. Malevy Leons scored 19 with nine rebounds. Dalen Ridgnall led three players with over 20 points for Cowley County with 26 and 13 boards.
