(myMOinfoSports) The South Iron Lady Panthers have reached the Class 1 state final four topping Scott County in the quarterfinals 53-41 earlier today from Van Buren High School heard live on J98 and mymoinfo.com.

Ashley Mickan paced the Lady Panthers early on with the team finishing the first quarter with an 11-7 lead. Mickan scored all 11 points.

Mickan finished with a game-high 19 points. All eight of her second half points were earned at the charity stripe. South Iron secured a 23-12 halftime lead, when Scott County went on a series of runs to get the game down to five points several times. However, just like Mickan performed in the first half, Lady Panther Michaela Ayers stepped up big time in the second half.

Ayers finished with 18 points, 15 of her 18 were scored in the second half. The freshman was also big on the defensive end securing two steals to thwart a late Scott County push. Johneisha Daniel led all Bravettes with 10 points, the only player on her team to reach double figures. South Iron head coach Lawrence Graves said he couldn’t have asked for more from his two star performers.

South Iron will take on a one-loss Mercer team in Columbia Thursday afternoon at 3:20 for a shot to advance to the Class 1 state championship.
