(Perryville) The St. Vincent Indians baseball squad at 7-9 this season is preparing for the Class 2, District 3 tournament beginning next Friday against Meadow Heights.

The Indians have had a challenging spring thanks in part to scheduling 6 games against Class 4 teams and 7 games verses Class 3 teams. Head coach Tyler Search has enjoyed every minute of it and knows his players have learned a lot about themselves because of the tougher competition.

Guys that have been instrumental to St. Vincent’s success between the lines are senior first baseman Blake Hennemann and senior right fielder Tyler Unterreiner.

Blake and Tyler each have a pair of home runs this season with Unterreiner batting .355 to go along with the two dingers. Coach Search is quick to remind us that 3-year starter Riley Reihn has also made a big impact on the program. All three guys have played multiple sports at St. Vincent and Coach Search believes that gives the team an added strength moving forward.

The 7-9 Indians will take on Arcadia Valley Monday afternoon at 4 in their final tune-up before the Class 2, District 3 tournament begins next Friday against Meadow Heights.
