(HILLSBORO) Grandview pole vaulter Melina Eaker catapulted her way onto her very first Regional Radio Track and Field Dream Team in her final season.

The future Murray State Racer also competed in the 110-meter hurdles, triple jump, and 4-by-100 meter relays. Eaker says the driving force behind her participation in those events was simply that she enjoys it.

Eaker qualified for state in the pole vault all four years, setting a personal best jump at 10 feet and 3 inches this season. Her highest finish at state in the pole vault was 3rd place in 2016. However, It’s accomplishments as a team from Eaker’s sophomore through senior years that she is most proud of.

Eaker has a farewell thought for those at Grandview.

Melina Eaker will not continue her track and field career at Murray State and will instead focus on her major which will be occupational safety and health. Eaker plans to become a safety engineer.
