Mercy’s Ammons Tapped to be Mercy Regional President

(FESTUS) The President of Jefferson Mercy Hospital, Eric Ammons will become a Mercy regional president later this month, that according to a Mercy news release. According to the release, Ammons will oversee Mercy’s southeast Missouri operations, which will range from Jefferson County, Perry County and potentially Cape Girardeau and Stoddard counties.

On Oct. 1, Mercy began operating Mercy Hospital Perry (formerly Perry County Health System) under a lease agreement.

This past August, Mercy and SoutheastHEALTH announced an agreement for SoutheastHEALTH to join Mercy. Mercy is awaiting regulatory and third-party approvals, to add current SoutheastHEALTH hospitals in Cape Girardeau and Dexter.

Ammons has been with Mercy for over 33 years including the last 10 years as president of Mercy Jefferson. As Ammons moves into his new position, Dan Eckenfels will succeed him as president of Mercy Jefferson communities. Eckenfels is currently vice president of finance and chief administrative officer for Mercy Jefferson. Ammons and Eckenfels will begin their new positions Oct. 18.
