(ANNAPOLIS, Mo.) – A week featuring excellent performances against two quality teams has netted South Iron girls basketball’s senior Michaela Ayers the Parkland Health Mart Pharmacy Play It Forward Athlete of the Week Award.

Ayers averaged 21.5 points, 6.5 rebounds, and 2.5 assists per game in this past week’s contests against Ellington and Arcadia Valley.

For the Ellington game specifically, she accounted for 21 of her team’s 35 points in a close 35-32 win.

As far as the 61-40 victory against AV, Ayers had plenty of highlight plays.

Head coach Lawrence Graves says it was a great week for Ayers.

With quite a few freshmen playing on a South Iron team that is ranked number one in the state at the Class 1 level, Graves explains that the intangibles that Ayers exhibits are crucial as well.

Led by Ayers, the Panthers are 5-0 on the season.

As part of the Parkland Health Mart Pharmacy Athlete of the Week award, Michaela Ayers will receive a t-shirt, a certificate, and the Parkland Health Mart Pharmacy will donate $25 to a non-profit of her choice.
