Mineral Area 10U Bluejays Fall in Regional Semis

(Garden City, KS) The Mineral Area 10U Bluejays won their pool at the regional Babe Ruth tournament in Garden City, Kansas, but they fell Tuesday morning in the semifinals 11-8 to Waite Park, Minnesota. Down 11-2 starting the final inning, the Bluejays rallied for six runs in the final inning. They had the go ahead run at the plate, but fell just short. The Bluejays had not allowed a run prior to the semifinals in defeating the host team Garden City, Grand Forks, North Dakota, and Scottsbluff, Nebraska. Coach Bob Simily is the assistant high school coach for West County, but he says he found it particularly gratifying coaching this bunch…
Coach Simile estimated that the Bluejays finished the summer at 43-8.
