(Jefferson County) Memorial Day, the unofficial start to summer, is coming up on Monday, May 25th.

This year’s holiday weekend might look a little different compared to previous years due to the pandemic; however, law enforcement is still expecting to see an increase in traffic and people out and about.

We asked Corporal Juston Wheetley with the Missouri State Highway Patrol on how troopers are preparing for the holiday weekend.

Corporal Wheetley says the patrol’s “Combined Accident Reduction Effort” otherwise known as operation C.A.R.E. will be in force.

With the possibility of state troopers coming into contact with more people during the Memorial Holiday weekend, patrol officers will continue to take the necessary precautions such as wearing the appropriate protective equipment and taking any measure needed to ensure the safety and well-being of citizens and law enforcement.
