North Mill railroad crossing in Festus closed until later this week

(Festus) The railroad crossing on North Mill Street just north of 5th Street will be closed for the remainder of the week. The City of Festus received a call from Burlington Northern yesterday (Monday) morning to inform them of the closure. Festus City Administrator Greg Camp says the biggest concern with this closure is for area first responders and the schools.

Camp is hopeful the reason for the closure is to upgrade and improve the rather bumpy and rough crossing across the tracks, however, it’s unknown if that is the case. The railroad crossing closure on North Mill Street is expected to continue until Friday.
