(WEBSTER GROVES) The Northwest softball Lions hit the road tomorrow to take on the Webster Groves Statesmen in the Class 4 Quarterfinals on AM 1400 KJFF. The quarterfinals means that either of these teams is just three wins away from winning a state title.

The Statesmen are 21-8 after beating Marquette 10-3 in the Class 4 Sectional Round on Wednesday. It was the program’s first-ever Sectional win. With that now a thing, Head Coach Bryan Gibson believes his girls are ready to handle the pressure of the quarterfinals.

The Northwest Lions knocked off Oakville 10-3 as well on Wednesday in the Sectional Round, pushing their record this season to 25-4. The 25 wins represent the most in program history, even more than the 1986 state championship team. Last year’s Lions were district champs but lost in Sectionals to Oakville.

Northwest head coach Dan Davison addressed with the girls before this season to not let a district title be the extent of their success.

That being said, Lions Head Coach Davison believes the girls are ready for what’s ahead with Webster Groves…

First pitch of the Class 4 Softball Quarterfinal at Plymouth Field on the campus of Webster Groves is scheduled for tomorrow afternoon at 2. The Flieg’s Equipment Pregame Show will begin at 1:45 on AM 1400 KJFF.

The weather forecast for Saturday is a 100-percent chance of rain. If the game gets postponed, the reschedule date is Monday at 3:45.
