(Cedar Hill) The Northwest Lions were a force for much of the 2019 volleyball season, but all that came crashing down during a first-round defeat to rival Seckman in the district tournament.

Now, with much of the same cast back for a new season, head coach Deb Fortner says not even a pandemic could temper her team’s enthusiasm.

The Lion offense could be electric in 2020.

op hitters Alyssa jones, Maureen Mathews and Lizzy Vermillon return, along with senior setter Jillian Schmoll.

Even when it comes to making change at libero, Fortner says junior Torie Strange can slide right in to the spot.

Northwest may have won 27 matches last season, but Fortner says her team is shooting even higher, and that starts with going through Seckman.

Northwest starts the 2020 volleyball season by participating in the Windsor Tournament August 29th in Imperial.
