Paul Wieland on his final legislative session

(Jefferson City, Imperial) State Senator Paul Wieland of Imperial just finished his final legislative session. Wieland is term-limited out and will leave the office at the end of the year. Wieland says this session was very difficult to maneuver due to how the session ended in 2021.

Wieland says the trust was completely lost.

The Senate spent a lot of time filibustering the U.S. Congressional Maps, which slowed down movement with certain bills.

Wieland’s District 22 Senate seat is up for election with four republicans running in the August Primary, which includes current State Representatives Dan Shaul, Shane Roden, and Mary Elizabeth Coleman, and former State Rep Jeff Roorda. Wieland is challenging current Jefferson County Executive Dennis Gannon in August Primary.
