(Perryville) In the third week of May, the Perryville Pirates got their new softball coach. Lily Pecaut will be replacing Dustin Wengert at the helm and is excited to be coaching the softball team. Pecaut says that there are a lot of nerves that come with being a new head coach, but she is still looking forward to getting to work.

Pecaut is only six years removed from her playing days at Perryville, but getting the opportunity to coach the Pirates is something she wasn’t going to pass up.

While Pecaut wants to win on the field, she also wants her ladies to win off the field and in the classroom.

She also shared her goals for her team and herself for the season.

Pecaut is inheriting a team that is the defending Class 3 District 1 Champions, but after graduating sixteen seniors, its a clean slate with a lot of fresh faces. Pecaut and the Pirates start offseason training Monday with a fundamentals camp.
